I shot with conventional film SLRs for nearly three decades, but I've become mesmerized with the benefits of digital photography: no more photos ruined in processing; total control over my own images; the ability to double-check lighting and composition on the spot; and the fun of being able to instantly share my photos with others.

In a few short years, professional digital cameras have begun to outperform 35mm film in color quality, sharpness and resolution.

But the most exciting benefit of digital photography for me is the new freedom it brings. It's so unrestricted, and it invites in-the-moment experimentation. I can look at what I just captured and improve it on the spot. I can delete something that didn't work out. I have instant confirmation, instead of waiting much longer to see what I captured.
